Vodafone iPhone 3GS (32GB) Quick Unlocking Question

guys, just about to pick up an iPhone 3gs but its a vodafone issued phone so im guessing its locked to vodafoone? i will be only buying it if its able to work on the Meteor network either through a vodafone unlock or jailbreak. im assuming its on 3.1.3 so cant be unlocked? is there anything that i can do ie. seriel number…
