    is it possible to designate more ram etc to run one particular programme at any one time?

    Certain applications have a memory-usage function. Photoshop (though I havent checked the more recent versions - above CS3) allocated itself 55% of available uder-memory! Might be an idea to google it or check the application-makers FAQ's!
