    Hi Guys,

My PC (or rather the PC i've been using for the past while is acting up in a big way (ie constantly switching off/taking several efforts to turn on).

I'm F***ed basically beacuse its a Sunday and everywhere is shut after 6 but i'm gonna need to pick up something ASAP to save my files on just in case (i don't have any hard copy of these recordings...just haven't been able to afford anything over the last while).

If I'm lucky enough to have this PC start up tomorrow can anyone recommend storage options for under €40 (or as near as possible to that cost - yeah i'm really that short this month) - cheapest external harddrives i can see are €59 in ARGOS - theres about 20G of material that i need to save so i don't need anything massive.

I'm going to go running around first thing tomorrow - i'm not gonna sleep tonight i can tell you that much :(

    Thanks,
    DrF

Ps. I know i'm an idiot for not already having back ups...trust me i know!!!

    Thanks Gents!

I'll grab some DVD R's tomorrow - I'm in Swords so i reckon somewhere in Airside or the Pavillions should have a similar offer.

Any thoughts of DVD R typs i should avoid or look out for in particular?

this really should be in the tech forum...

But you need to check with type of Dvd Burner you've got in your PC.

    There's DVD-R and DVD+R.

PSU? sounds like on way out, just replace... as they are cheap, if it just shuts down I would start with that....

if you get errors before then read error and let us know

Hi Dravokivich, Tech wouldn't be appropriate as I want to keep everything specific to music and recording files and the best way and practice for saving this specific data - especially if there are any quirks to a particular DAW etc which is why this is in Music Production.

Thanks for this though! Unfortuantely i went and bought DVD-R discs before i saw your post yesterday and predictably this PC only writes to DVD+R:rolleyes:

Thanks PMI will do...PC has been working fine all day today from what i've been told...but will check out your suggestion once i've got the back ups saved (ie bought the correct DVD's)

Just to confirm guys i'm using Reaper so i'm assumming i just:

open the file >> save project as >> click on 'create subdirectory' and save it to DVD/CD-RW Drive??

Same way as i would with a USB key?

    Cheers
