rent allowance for parent

hi all.

last week, i lost my job. ive been working for the most part of 16 years. i live with my girlfriend in a one bedroom apartment which the rent is 850 p/m. the missus works and as of yet still has her job. thank god.

my son, who i have legal joint custody of, stays with us 2 nights per week.

now, ive already applied to go to college as the work situation is a dead duck, wich i was delighted to find out i could still do, as ive always wanted to go.

my question is this, where do i stand on rent allowance. i have a one year contract in the apt which im 2 months into.

soes the gf's wages come into play? any advice here will be great, thank you............

you won't be entitled to rent allowance as your girlfriend is working.

also, depending on where you're living, your current rent may be over the threshold that the HSE pay for rent allowance.
