is this a rally or a run. Im not into rallying my car, its old but I would be on for a run if its just a drive? Seems to be a run. But the link to the lenister motor club seems to be not working.

I got it to work by cutting off the end of the link. Try this one. Some nice pics too.

Sounds good welder, must try to rustle up a few bodies to act as sight seers and observers!

    Thanks,Linky fixed now I hope....

Its a vintage run with timed regularity sections (sub 30 mph average)
You can just drive them normally and not worry about watching Your average
speed but its good fun to do ! Read the thread I linked on classiccar.ie
it explains it well and the regs on the Leinster MC site too. But dont
worry its NOT a stage/forestry or retro rally !!!! You can drive at Your
    own pace,legal of course....
There are some lovely awards up for grabs too....

ah right so its just on public roads then like not closed roads. Cool so may look into this and get a few others to come along too.

How are you fixed for insurance on this as sticking to an average would be called "pace-making". And as such is usually precluded from most policies

Hi welder are you in this club and/or on the committie?

As I was just wondering how strict are they on car age. Its says cars older than 25 years are eligable so cars older that 1984 are ok. Should it not have said cars older than 1985 can appaly? Just asking as my car is a 1984 car. Also could a 1987 car enter? or is it too new?

Below is a bit of the blurb from the site.
    .............................................................................................................

The club will be running its annual Vintage and Veteran Run on Sunday 23rd May 2010.

The V&V Run is open to all cars older than 25 years old, so this year, any car older than 1984 is eligible to enter the Run, once it has the appropriate road tax and insurance.

A V&V Run entails going from Point A to Point B, on open roads at a regulation speed of 50 km per hour. The car that ultimately wins the event will be car that managed to stay on route and arrive at Point B at the designated time in accordance with driving on the route at the 50 km per hour speed limit.

Observation tests are also included along the route, which almost inevitably distracts the driver and causes him to take a wrong turn on the route.

    Hi All,

Less than a week to go to this event. Hope to see
a few of You taking part.

@Spooky Donkey : last year there was an '87 XR3i so You
should be ok. Put in an entry and I'm sure You'll be told
    if there is a problem.

    Hi welder,
Do you think we could turn up on the day?
I'm hoping to go still, (if my spotters are still on for it) but didn't get in an entry form.
    Cheers

    Hi All,

Entries are very slow to come in for this event, if there are
not sufficient entries by Thurs afternoon the organising team
will be forced to cancel which would be a shame after all the
work they have already put in.
If You have not entered already and definitely will come along
on Sunday You can pm me your details, name, address, contact no.
details of car,by Thurs lunchtime and I'll pass them onto the organising team.
Please only do this if you are DEFINITELY going to take part on Sunday
(and pay the entry fee !).
Have a read of the reports of previous years events, its a fun day out
with some great awards too. Tell Your friends and lets make sure it
    happens .

    Thanks,

    Dave
