A friend of mines who lives in the north would like to receive tv3. Is it possible to add this through the Other Channels option?

No. Republic of Ireland subscription only.

Or via a terrestrial (aerial) analouge signal (not available everywhere)

Just a thought, this applies to non-multi room Sky. ;)

It's not uncommon for people who live in the north to move to the Republic Of Ireland and change their Sky address and package so they receive the Southern Ireland EPG including TV3.

Should that same person at a later stage move back to the North and forget to change their address and package details with Sky they would still receive the Southern Ireland EPG and channels. It wouldn't make sense to do this deliberately because they would still pay the Irish cost of Sky which is more as far as I know.

yes, it would stay the same as long as you have a Rep of Ire SKY sub.
Alot of Irish pubs in Spain and France have Irish viewing cards.

    :)

Just in case your reply isn't a witty retort to TV3's attempt to become an Irish version of the worst channel on TV, I'll answer your question:

He's looking to watch sport in general, the Champions League in particular.

I presumed UTV & TV3 showed pretty much the same things!

I didn't know that TV3 showed more footy.

Ah but they have a Tuesday Night match which ITV don't have. I thought five had Champions League but it seems that Tuesday Nights are covered by Sky Sports.

He could always take out a Sky Sports subscription.
