I need to buy a weekly Dart/Luas student ticket. Where can I buy this, and is the price of €31.50 listed on the Luas website still correct? I can't find any details on IrishRail.ie, so not sure if it's only available from Luas or what. Thanks!

They should be on sale at your local DART station or from LUAS ticket machines so pop in and ask there. Remember to have one of these first otherwise you may be disappointed

Sorry to drag up an old thread (but I'm just recycling :D)

Can you buy these weekly DART/LUAS student tickets from the ticket machines at the DART stations, or are they sold at the ticket counters only? Thanks. :)

I believe you can, not 100%. You used to have to type in the student number IIRC.

DART/Luas and DART/Bus are only sold at the counters. DART-only (DART and Dublin Commuter really) can be bought in the machines. They ask for your student card number; I'm not sure why, since you also have to fill it in in biro on the ticket.

Also the weekly student ticket purchased from any machine I've tried won't work in the old style barriers, only in the new automatic ticket checking ones. You need to ask the staff to open the gate for you. Monthly ones are fine. Irish Rail never replied to my email about this so I'm assuming they don't care.

Great, thanks. :) I'll probably be getting the DART at around 7am, will there be a person at the ticket counters at that time of the morning?

Should be, but you're better off getting them in advance. There's likely to be more people queueing early in the morning. And if you're getting a DART/Luas ticket in particular, don't be surprised if the person at the counter has never heard of it, questions your sanity, then spends a good while looking up codes and querying the price with you

Thanks for the tip! :) If all else fails, I'll just have to swallow my immense dislike for Dublin Bus... :P
