I have four visitors coming from the states in 2 weeks. I was thinking of asking each one to bring an iPad and sell them here. I presume this is perfectly legal and above board. Any other issues with this ?
    Thanks

Nothing illegal, as long as you're paying duty, as far as I would know. Could be completely wrong, but I know I got an iPod Touch from an authorised Apple reseller about 2 weeks before it officially launched here.

Just make sure how many they are buying! There is a limit of 2 ipads per day, and get this, a LIFETIME limit of 10. Ever...

Saw it in the register too.

IIRC the €430 relates to products you bring in with you.

No you will pay about one thrid of the price on duty if you get stung. Anything over 30 euros is liable for duty.

"You are allowed to bring in goods (including gifts, souvenirs, perfume and clothing) free of duty, the combined value of which does not exceed:

    * €430 in the case of an individual aged 15 years or over"

From the irish C&E website. €430 is total value, BTW, not per item, amd you must be carrying it with you.

Pay the duty, collect the booty. No worries. I know of a guy who is selling them here-importing them from Hong Kong, all above board-and he's paying the taxman and all.

Anything over 30 euros is liable for duty.

    Has it changed?

I was pretty sure it was €22
