Anyone else think Ryanair might not be right? In all cases? All of the time?

Yes, I know it's as contraversial as inferring Irish people haven less than all-encompasing tastes, but have you ever had the thought in your head that maybe some of Ryanair's practises might just not be something you would agree with?

Or do most people agree with, a) you should indeed be charged to fly a 4 hour flight and extra to require to use a (poorly maintained) bathroom? b) you should be charged everytime you inhale and exhale the precious oxygen (not to mention nitrogen), c) if you are brought to the wrong Canary Island, F**k you and your reservation! This is Puerta-Del-I-Don't-Give-A-****-What-Its-Called so I sure a s**t don't care if your flight has made a mistake.

    ???

I prefer to be charged for each thing separately then be forced to pay for things I don't use on other airlines.

I don't agree with everything Ryanair does, but then again, I don't see any point in whinging about things they haven't brought in yet (or might not even do so) or things that you have just made up.

That'd just be a waste of time.

You also have a choice of airlines. If you don't like them, don't continue to fly with them and bitch about it.

O'Leary has been in control of Ryanair since 1994. This has given everybody plenty of time to get used to his business practices. You know exactly what you are getting into when booking flights with Ryanair (and if you don't, then you obviously don't listen to the radio, watch the tv or own a computer, and frankly, I'm surprised you are on the internet).

    And the guy is hilarious.

Fairly sure they don't charge for toilets, or oxygen, and I've never heard of them landing a plane in the wrong Canary Island.
But other than that you are right, they are load of bolix and I for one think we should go back to the 1980s system of AerLingus charging £180 (£s not silly €s) oneway to London. With a free sandwich.

Couldn't agree more... you get what you pay for at the end of the day. And usually it only costs around 15 squid more for a lot of European destinations to go with the better airline, who'll take you where you want to go and provide superiour service.

I really do not get why everyone keeps whining about this airline so much. imo the airline is dire but i just don't fly with them.
    Problem solved.
And tbh you have to respect Michael O Leary as a businessman. At the end of the day most businesses are in it for profit and he is raking the cash in.

I guess some people just get pissed off hearing

"Micheal O Leary took a sh!t. Let us all frame his sh!t and learn from it."

"Micheal O Leary ate his breakfast from a big-boy cup. Let give Micheal O Leary a €12m grant because he ate from a big boy cup."

"Micheal O Leary watched Hi-Five today. Let's all give Micheal O Leary a high five because he finished all his juice while watching Hi-Five."

Oh good God don't tell me what I "have to" respect.

I have used Ryanair in the past, its a budget airline, they take you no where near where you want to actually go, they have/had so many hidden charges, it makes it no cheaper than other airlines (unless you want to go to some kip in the off season), they have some little Nazi behind the desk who is probably getting a bonus for being a c*nt and when you add on the cost of getting you from the airport a few hours away from where your staying, in short its a con job.

But in saying that i love being at cork airport and seeing the "Scum Run", you know the fat trash who dont run all year but give them the incentive of a window seat and they set their blubber in motion. The "Scum Run" priceless...

I can categorically state that I have NEVER heard anyone utter those three statements.

    http://www.ryanair.com/ie/cheap-flight-destinations

Every destination is explained on this page, accompanied by a Google map. If you end up somewhere you don't want to go, that's not Ryanair's fault.

And the charges can be avoided - pay by Prepaid mastercard, pick flights that are labelled "Free Online Check-in" or "No Taxes".

I went on a skiiing holiday earlier this year and it cost me €500 all inclusive. There isnt a chance I would have been able to go were it not for Ryanair.

Im also going to Paris for £31 (including bus transfer to the city) in a few weeks.

For cheap flights I couldnt give a shít if the staff are rude as long as I get to where Im going safely.

Back then Aerlingus were using the short haul routes to subsidise its less profitable or indeed loss making routes. If it weren't for that policy, there might only have been one flight a week to the states, and it would have been ridiculously expensive. In fact there might have been no direct flights at all.

Then how the flip do you know they are crap, and what sad sort of a life do you lead that you start a thread to bitch about them, when you have never flown with them?

Then why do you give a shit? People know the score before they fly and continue to fly with them. It's a not a Microsoft-style monopoly that they have. If you want to pampered and looked after. Pay an extra 100 Euros and fly Aer Lingus. Simple.

Well, I actually wasn't really talking about Ryanair as I haven't ever used them so am indeed not qualified to comment. Yikes, you're very defensive of an airline company.

The thread was about Micheal O Leary and the way he is deified. I was suggesting that perhaps he isn't the Lord High Commander of Travel. Maybe he isn't God. Maybe.

Misty, i know well that everyone may have different opinions but in light of your statement above, what idea in your head prompted you to start this thread?

The thread about MOL being right to refuse to pay for people's accomodation after they have been stranded due to volcanic ash. I'm not entering an opinion on that one way or the other, I'm just wondering if I am the only non-subscriber to the religion of O Leary.

You have yourself a contradiction there. Furthermore, starting a thread without showing an opinion of your own is bad form.

    What?

I'm "not entering an opinion" on the question "Is MOL right to not fund accomodation to people stranded due to volcanic ash".

This thread was (supposed to be) about "Do you think MOL is maybe not right all the time about absolutely everything?"

Why discuss 'the religion of O'Leary' if you haven't flown with Ryanair before?

All you're seeing is the media/PR side of things - not the actual business/customer side of things.

I've flown many airlines and TBH while Ryanair aren't amazing, they're grand for what they do

edit: in response to your question above, I doubt anyone, even MOL himself, believes he is infallible!

    I <3 Ryanair

With Ryanair it is possible to fly to many lovely European cities for less then the price of an overcrowded train from Dublin-Galway.

Personally, I enjoy having such cheap and easy access to the mainland of Europe.

I flew to Budapest recently, it was about 3.5 hours, that is about as long as I can bear inside the toothpaste tubes Ryanair use as planes, but hey, I ain't complaining as I think it cost me only 70er return!

Lots of holliers! Tnx Michael O Leary :D

Does it really matter what anyone thinks about MOL? They can say what they like but the vast majority will still be looking at flying with them to the Mediterranean this summer. The passenger numbers prove it. They make travelling more affordable and I only hope they expand and add more destinations. By all means fly with a more expensive airline, I'd rather hold onto my money than worry about petty ****e like 'service' which incidentally isn't that much better that it deserves an extra 100 Euro.
