Actually enjoying a movie on RTE1

Belatedly watching "Sideways" on RTE 1
Recommended to me by a friend about 6yrs ago.
One of those films I kept meant to rent at Xtravision but never got around to.
    Very watchable and atmospheric.

Good way to wind down a week.

    One slightly OT observation..
In France last year I noticed they somehow ban commercials during screenings of movies on TV. They compress all the ads into a single break at the start and end of movie. Ad breaks completely screw up the continuity of the movie.
The French have some class and culture and can show us a thing or too....
    <rant over>
<still enjoying the movie despite w@nky adverts on Quinn and Renault electric cars> that are microcosm of the times we are in...

    Watching it as well.
I don't think RTE can be commended for showing a good movie.
They didn't make the movie, they are just showing it.

I don't watch ads, I just switch over and watch something else for 5 minutes.
Could I get a barely legal?....
No, actually, sorry, the new one.
    Classic. :D

    I was quoting the film.
Miles goes into a shop to buy stuff and then asks the guy for a porno mag.

    The new magazine though.

sky +/pause it and watch it without watching ads. i have ntl but you can pause at the start of a fil for say 15 minutes and then press play and fast forward the ads.

You're right there. The other week they played Capote, a great Oscar-winner, at midnight. They insist on constantly repeating action movie tripe in the prime time slots.

I'm assuming that they're assuming that we're all arse-rooting, hand-sniffing idiots who can't handle a proper movie but just sit there and go 'oooh' , 'ahhh' at the flashing lights and explosions.

    Give us some f*cking credit.

PostScript(!): Sideways is a great movie, never understood why Thomas Haden Church hasn't been in more movies, he's hilarious.

It doesn't make you a bad person. I once watched a movie on BBC and quite liked it. I don't feel any less Irish for having done so. These things happen.
