Well, We decided to maybe buy a new car, Got some money and we need a new Family Car, (6 to 7 seater) Seems like the Zafira is the most popular.
But will have to get some finance from the Bank. The last time I got car finance was in 2006 from First active and the rate was 4%. Today it seems like all the banks are offering 9.9% (no surprise).

The dealer was offering 9k for our Volks Polo, new Zafira was 29K with all the bells and whistles we wanted. But I happened to see that they were offering 0% finance (nice!!) however they said if I went for the 0% finance they would only give me 6K for the 2006 Polo. ... No not really 0% finance at the end of the day, I suppose its only 0% when you buy outright the new car.

Anyone else have a story on how to get a good Car finance bargain ?

I'm not advertising or looking for business, but I need a family car, its just the hassle today is terrible compared to 2006.

How about selling your polo privatley. You would get an additional discount of the dealer. Polo is a easy car to shift

I'll ask an obvious question, but does it have to be a new car? You'll get more bang for your buck in the secondhand market.

You're only getting 6k for the polo anyway. It's obvious the 0% finance is only based on full rrp. Sell the polo privately imo

yes i would do the same and sell the polo privatley like the dealer offering 9k at one rate and 6k on another rate seems abit of a scam id deffo shop around, also could be cheaper if you bought a new car in the uk because its still a rip off over here anyhow

29k sounds like an awful lot of cash for a Zafira.
Deal sounds like crap tbh. 0% finance basically if you pay full retail on a straight sale. No thanks.

Slightly O/T but isn't there an all new Zafira out soon? Current model has been around for 5 years now and based on the old Astra model.

I honestly would never buy new, you're gonna be losing 5k as soon as ya drive it off the forecourt.

You'd get more for your cash in the second hand market, as dudara pointed out

The Guy wants a new car.. Not everyone wants to drive someone else's "cast off's"

After all,, If everyone started buying S/H where would that leave you lot when you need one :D

We have a loan with an english bank and they dont have any brancesin Ireland, so we want to refinance to get a newer car, basically asking BOI to give us the money to pay off the other crowd and then start paying the BOI, which actually works out cheaper for us, we thought hey how could they not refuse, rang the BOI and after all the making an appointment and filling out forms, they said they dont refinance if your with another bank.
Now I did`nt know that this was going to happen, I mean we`re going to be there costumer and give them business but no they dont do it, if we were with another BOI branch that`s ok.
They were of no help to use, not giving us any options or willing to try and help us out it was just feck off and next in line please?

I`m out of idea`s as to go about this, is anyone in a similar position?
We have a baby on the way and we need the extra room...

OP - That does sound like a very expensive route to driving a Zafira. If it were me, i'd figure out the likely annual depreciation on the Zafira, add that to the €2k interest and then decide. From a quick glance at used Zafira values, it looks to me as though the year one cost might top €8000.
