    Hi folks,

How much use is this for pedestrians? I am going to London for a few months and don't know my way around, apart from in a few central areas.

I have a Garmin Etrek that I bought a few years ago for hillwalking, that isn't any use in a very built up area, but I presume that this is what the Tom Tom is designed for?

Any drawbacks to carrying it around in my pocket rather than having it stuck inside a windshield?

No limitations really, apart from the battery life.
A nice compact device & easy to fit in your pocket.
Personally I would prefer to use a mobile phone solution.
