Eyefinity Compatability

Hi guys,

So I got myself a sapphire 5770 the other day and I was wondering about running it with eyefinty and 3 monitors. Now heres the problem 2 of them only have vga input and the other has vga and dvi. Since display port is required for eyefinty for 3 monitors, I was wondering if I could use two dvi to vga adaptors on the card and output to two screens in vga and get a displayport to dvi adaptor for the third and output that in dvi.

Would this work? the card will think its outputting in two dvi and display port while the monitors should (theoretically) work as they're receiving their required inputs. Any thoughts would really be appreciated before i bought the dp adaptor!

i did a lot of reading into eyefinity with my 5770, and honestly, i gave up. The drivers are so infant right now, its just hassle. Granted people do get it working, but the cost of it, not worth it.
To get a decent adapter for the display port is €85+.

^^yep it needs an active adapter and theyre expensive, you'd be lucky to get one for 85euro. Some have got passive adapters working but theyre completely hit and miss and cause colour issues or picture anomolies.

I have a 3 monitor setup, you can use softTH, works great, takes a bit of fiddling but ive got it working on HAWX, Grid, Dragon Aga: Origin, Devil May Cry 4, Batman AA, Crysis and a few others. softTH only works in DX9 but tbh theres very little difference especially compared to the benefit. Grid is amazing on 3 screens.

An active adapter is not needed for monitors rez's below and including 1920

A passive DP to VGA will do, buy one on Ebay for 15 euro.

Thanks for that but the guy on that guide is using a DP to VGA, whereas i got a DP to DVI, shoot....

Seems to work for him with the passive vga adapter, for me with the dvi adaptor it can only recognise up to 2 screens at once, maybe if you're using an adaptor they all have to end up in the same format, (eg. VGA for the guy in that link) whereas i have to ending up in VGA and the other in DVI...
