what might be good criteria for choosing someone to make curtains?
I mean what would constitute good quality of work?

Also what would be a reasonable range of rates they might charge?
Would they normally charge by the metre ?

If its a shop they will have sample pairs of curtains made up, usually with different headings, for you to look at - you can see how good their workmanship is then. Otherwise, get a recommendation from friends or family of someone whose work they were happy with. Curtain makers normally charge "per width" of fabric, regardless of what length or "drop" the curtains are. So a large window with full length curtains would normally require 4 x widths of fabric. Prices vary but in my area its usually between E35 - E55 per width to make them up, depending on fabric type and what type of heading you choose. Hope this helps!
