JSA/JSB PAYMENTS QUERY

    Hi,

I'm returning to work in a few months after maternity leave but have a feeling that after xmas my hours may be reduced to 3 day week.

If this is the case & I have to sign on the other 3 days, how long does it take to receive the payment (weekly) from when you sign on?
Do you receive the payment that week into your bank account or is it a cheque posted out?

I only ask as we have mortgage/outgoings & will have childcare costs.
I'm worried about being late with various repayments if there was a delay in receipt of the payments, or is it a case that if you're on permanently reduced hours that the payments are automatic?

I'm hoping it wont come to this/that I'll keep my full time hours but would like to check just in case.

    Thanks,

    C

    Hi,
No you don't automatically start receiving payments as soon as you're approved for JSB-there is usually a backlog and delay of a few weeks to a few months, depending on how busy your local office is, but you do get your payments back dated.
If you're only claiming for a couple of days per week, you'll get your cheques in the post every week.

Thanks for the reply Alwaysadub. I'm hoping I wont need to sign on but at least if I do I know now I'll need to have a few €€€ put aside for the weeks payments are late.
