Got a back box today for a 97 civic EK2
Type R kit on the car so obstructing the exit for the exhaust.
Lip has to be cut which I am not at all happy about as I have seen some Bodged jobs trotting around.

Some years ago I remember that when the rear bumper had to be cut a half circle piece of Alloy/Stainless was fixed on over the cut to give it a nice appearance.

    Similar to this

    Thanks

Only my personal opinion but i think those trims for the exhaust cut outs look tacky and chavy.Have you consider a discrete exhaust behind the valance?

they look desperate. I cut my bumper for my quads and it looked factory.

a cut out on a bumper for an aftermarket exhaust isn't something you wanna draw attention to.

what exhaust did you buy, strange that the EK9 lip is obstructing it, did it come with new rubber hangers or are you using older ones?? post a pic if possible

really the exhaust should have no problem fitting with the lip, heres a few aftermarket exhausts fitted with an ek9 rear lip to give you an idea

    Using the old hangers
It is only caught for about an inch or so.
I am gonna cut it today Id say
    Bought the box on Fleebay

    I know
    I know
They are not Top spec but they are cheap and it is purely for the looks
Not looking for any power gains or anything.

have a quick look at the hangers first, some can be turned 90 degrees to make them hang more, cutting can be done just take it handy, is it an OEM lip your cutting? BTW you should check prices of secondhand parts, i picked up a full SiR midsection and backbox when i had my EG cost me 70 euro, but what you have will do you fine, let us know how you get on with the install. Is it your car?

    Hi,

Hangers are welded in place so cannot be moved around.
Maybe bolt it in place first and try longer rubbers to let it hang slightly?

It is my car yes (second car as runaround and for my son to learn to drive in )

Will let you know how it goes.
    thanks

Sorry i meant the rubber hangers not the metal ones :D , im sure the metal ones could be adapted slightly with a bit of heat :D

    Ah right
The rubbers are shorter if I turn them

As for the hangers.. I have given it some thought about applying some heat

    No way!

Love the rasp way too much to sell it.

The one I'm getting is from my mates EK, really loud, low rumble.

At that I'd say I'll only be able to stomach it for a few weeks!

Jiwsaw. made card a template using the other site, turned it backwards marked and cut.
Just ran a round file along it to smooth it out and used touch up paint to paint the edge (even though you can only see the edge when it's on the lift - stupidly obsessive about some things)
