Having graduated from WIT, and now registered with another University to compleat a MSc to say I'm astounded at the lack of support offered by WIT. I have been offered so much support and advice from University, even to the extent that should I have to sit an exam they will allow me sit it in my home. They have also allocated me whatever software I will require in order to allow me achieve my goal. WIT needs to become more disabled friendly and acknowledge that the difficulties disabled students encounter, some just to get into the college itself, such as College St.

As a matter of interested have you been in touch with the CHART Office or the Disability Officer within the WIT?

Yes had contact with CHART office, however their level of support was questionable. I would have to say that the support given was only ok in comparsion to the level of support I'm now getting.
I would have to say its the top down level of management at the WIT that requires a total overhaul if it ever hopes to secure University status. For example the total farce of the barrier system that was imposed on students last year, yet again not putting service users first i.i students. Also the the spending of the Prisedent of the college in his office, which had to be questioned.
Instead of budgets being deployed into the basics of heating exam rooms during this stressful time for students, or even having core text books on subjects that were within the degree that I succeeded in; this was not with the help of anyone but myself and the few dedicated lecturers. AS a mature student that has experience of middle managemennt it is my personal opinion that the college needs a total overhaul of management.

Different budgets, different requirements for each. Money available for X cant be spent on Y. Generally speaking anyway.

Is it a thought or research masters? Have you considered contacting the student union for assistance?

Budgets should be due consideration to the service users that is the students in this case. It is not my intent to knock the college but to highlight some of the faults of the management of the cololege. It is the general apathy of people that has allowed the current financial situation of the country to prevail.
Having lived through the very tough times of the 70's & 80's I do know how much I value the opportunity to have suceeded in gaining a degree as it was out of my reach in those times.
I also witnessed the colleges efforts to have the re-introduction of proposed fees stopped by protests. It was one of the first times that I saw solidarity of students while at the college.

That particular budget would have been set by the Department of Education, no? I'm not very familar with it, but I do believe the college had good defense with regards to spending that went into the office. I can somewhat support the need for such a room anyway.

With regards to fees - that was a Department of Education issue and not something the college itself was bringing in.
