Hey.. not sure if this is the right forum so feel free to move it mods=)

i've been out of my job on illness benefit for a few months now with back pains. I've recently found a new job which is less physically demanding.. Only one problem, i dont get on with my old boss and i'm dreading asking him for my p45..
is there any chance he could be awkward about it, or does he have to give it to me in a certain time period?.

your boss has to give you your p45 regardless , its against the law for him or her to not give it back to you its your rights . checK out the citz advice website its all there for you. good luck with it

Im kinda in the same situation and yourself:( I hurt my back while lifting in work, slipped a disc and damaged some of the small joints in my back (no manual handling training and lifting boxes 15kg+)...was out of work for a month and then went back last week but only managed 4 days as my back was getting worse the more lifting I did so back to the doctor and physio and now doc tells me I may take another month off...I cant survive on injury benefit with all the physio and doc fees so have been looking for another job and have an interview next Wednesday:D The job Im interviewing for is an office job so there be no lifting involved...

Even if I dont get this office job I want to quit my old job coz its damaging my back and my boss is a right f*cker so I'd say he will mess me around with my P45 as well! Do you have to go back and work your 2 weeks notice before you leave?

Im not sure what the time span on getting your P45 is after you resign but I'm looking into this at the moment so will let you know when I find out what the correct procedure is...
