    Hi

I was just wondering if anyone knows if there is an option on the Iphone to calibrate the touch screen?? Is the screen 'heat sensitive' only or can the touch pad be amended to suit all??

    Thanks a mill.

The iPhone's touch screen doesn't work on heat - it's capacitive, meaning that it detects the electrical interaction between your finger and the touchscreen. You can't use regular pens, chopsticks, etc to interact with the touchscreen, as they don't have the correct conductivity. There's no way to calibrate it (that I've heard of at least).

You can get a stylus that can be used with it however, like this one:

However, I personally don't see the point. You have your finger with you all the time, and it's hard to lose.

As Steve Jobs himself said in regards to touch screen devices "If you see a stylus, they blew it".

Thanks for that.... Sadly with long nails, its not easy for a chick to use their fingers with the iphone... I have a samsumg dual sim touch screen phone also and it can be calibrated so as i can tap with my nails rather than trying to work around them.. I thought it wud be pretty cool if it could be done on iphone also, but sadly not :( Iphone out the window for me now.. Hope the new Sony x10 isnt the same, as thats next on my hit list lol

    Thanks again.

While I am no expert on nails, can't you place your finger almost horizontal to tap the screen?

Don't get me started on women and technology. :p

Sadly for you the Sony Ericsson X10 has the same screen technology.

As a matter of fact pretty much most new touch screen phones are now capacitative.

I think your option are either the Sony Ericsson Vivaz or the Sony Ericcson Satio.

Otherwise you can go for a "dumb" phone like the Samsung Jet or some other low end Samsung or LG.

Be warned though, they are pretty crap.

You can have a look at this site:

    http://www.gsmarena.com/

Click on a phone you like and note the display type. You want to look for resistive.:pac:

EDIT: I for got to mention that all Nokia touch screen phone use resistive screens.;)
