    Hi All,

We've our roof on just waiting on windows to arrive before plasterer starts. My question is when should we be putting in the bathrooms fittings. Does anything need to go in before the plasterer starts?

Also has anyone been to AJ plumbing up North and do you know if they have a show room and what kind of lead time for products they do?

    Thanks :)

    normal sequence (I think)
    1 plumber puts in pipework,
    2 walls are slabed/plastered,
3 shower trays and baths are fitted,
    4 walls are tiled,
5 plumber fits toilets, WHB and shower,

    Hi G,

a12 has the correct sequence for installation , I bought most of my sanitary ware for AJ. Very big a spacious shown room in Newry, lead times depend on the products.

No connection, just a very happy customer

Is the floor normally tiled same time as walls or after the plumber fits the toilets, WHB?

Walls tiled first, but bottom row on wall not put on yet.
Next tile the floor, so floor tile sits under the wall tile, which is then put on.
Then you can attach the sanitary fittings (trade term for whbs, WCs etc)

However, if the house is a one off, it's quite common to only fit the sanitary fittings just before you move in, so there is less goodies lying about for the casual professional house breaker inner. Another reason not to buy things from the dubious sources/ car boot sales etc...

    gman2k,

Where does hanging the door come in the sequence for a new build? before or after the floor tiles are in?

Thanks everyone. Presuming the doors go in after the plasterer?
Going to make the trip up to Newry to AJ's in the next week or so and get as much as i can there. :)

I thought that was the sequence also but i was told then that the doors need to aclimatise to the house and the heat needs to be on a while to get the moisture content down etc.

So some people told me to tile first and then put in doors at a later date, others said to put in doors first???

After, it's best to run your tiles under the frames.

In a 'normal build you can do it this way:
    Floors, then skirting and doors.

I'm at this stage myself. I intend to
    -tile the walls and floor
-then when I have the heating on put down semisolid floor in the hallway
-put in the door frames, these will be off standard width as I'll have to add on thickness of tile to the wall width
    - hang the door and put on architrave
    - run some silicone along the joint between the architrave and tile (hopefully not too much!!)
