    Probably more well known for Empire of The Sun but Luke Steele has released two of the best records of 00's in his band The sleepy jackson. Lovers and Personality(one was a spider, one was a bird) both great albums mixed Beatles and Ex beatles solo,Beach boys, country and Flaming lips together.


    Anyone fallen for the charms of the Sleepy jackson?

    Good dancers is one of my favourite songs. Very good band much prefer The sleepy jackson to empire of the sun

    yes, I have one of their albums, it's pretty good, better than empire of the sun, though the first empire of the sun single sounded a bit sleepy jackson-ish.

    rumour has it that yer man from the sleepy jackson/eots, was supposed to write an album with daniel johns of silverchair. anyone who is familiar with the last silverchair album might agree that this would be an interesting collaboration

    Love the Sleepy Jackson. Didn't like them when they first came about but Good Dancers won me over and I love the first album. Saw them in Glasgow when they toured Once Was a Spider and it was one of the most disappointing gigs I've ever been to. It wasn't sloppy or anything, just... not great.

    Hope the Silverchair collaboration thing isn't true. Think they are an awful band. Luke has a 2nd Empire album in the works along with Sleepy Jackson #3 and a harder album ( that may be where the collaboration thing is coming from).

    I heard of them when I did my stint in Oz. Rain Falls for Wind has not left my main playlist since I got the Lovers album.

    my personal favourite is Lovers as it has the more stand out songs TBH.
    I taught the second album was a tad over produced and ruined the songs a bit

    Ya, I'm a big fan. There's seems to be an Australian link to your threads Arsenallegend, first Avalanches and now Sleepy Jackson, in fairness there is some top quality stuff coming from the Antipodes of late; Cut Copy, Art vs Science et al... just don't mention Jet.

    Plus i love The go-Betweens, the triffids, Nick cave and ACDC
    i guess i do have a love for Aussie Music:)

    Love Sleepy Jackson....Lovers I think is the better album, as someone said before Rain Falls For Wind being the standout track. 2nd album is decent, but a bit repetitive, in that most of songs seem to have the same disco beat-female backing vocals-string section thing goin on.

    Top band though, cant wait for their long awaited 3rd album.

    It wouldn't be anything grunge era silverchair related from what I heard, probably daniel johns would go down the dissociatives road, I would imagine..

    I love the Sleepy Jackson. Saw them in Whelans around 2003.

    Rain Falls For Wind is quality, alright. I love the opening lines. "I've been drinking. And i've been thinking of you..."

    Yeah not really into Empire of the Sun...Lovers is an amaizng album that I keep going back to...As far as I know a new album is expected this year...

    I think he has three albums coming out. Sleepy Jackson, another Empire of the Sun and one under a new name

    Lovers is a classic album very under rated and i agree Rain falls for rain is the best track on the album

    I think they're ok. Empire of the Sun are better imo. Not a huge fan of Pnau either (which Nick Littlemore is in) but two of them together are great.
