Best go through a broker. There are plenty of insurance companies that would quote for your circumstances but that only sell through brokers.

@CoDy1: I agree, there is a mis-conception that by going direct to the insurer is cheaper than going through the broker channel, however this is rarely the case. By going through a broker, it allows you to compare the market as well as having the added benefit of the broker expertise in the event of a claim. I wrote a blog post recently on the Chill.ie of the main benefits. Worth checking out by clicking here.

In my 20 years of shopping around annually for car insurance, i've found that it's always the case.;)

    Might just be me, though.

True, but it depends on how much shopping around the OP has really done. Online quotes are really only any use if you've a clean record, not too young and not driving a performance car.

The only way to properly shop around is to sit down with the phonebook and ring every single company and broker listed.

This is way too late for the OP, but having "protected no claims bonus" on a policy really pays for itself when you're talking about two very small claims like this that wouldn't affect your premium (although pretty much keeping you with the same company for 5 years).

i didnt have it protected first time because was with quinn and had to have 5 years NCB, didnt have that.

then i lost 3/4 of a years bonus because i had to change jobs and needed class 2 insurance was with 123 and they wouldnt do class 2,
so had 1 and 3/4's bonus when i had the accident last year.

ah well you win some you lose some

123.ie were the cheapest for me with a significantly larger single claim.
