The mini rest is upstairs at the main rest.

Neptune Stadium is..well...a bus leaves from near castlewhite each morning during the exams, its €2 each way. I don't know about times (can't remember), but what I will say is get there early if you want a seat, the bus is usually packed to the brim.

About Mardyke, yeah, the exams are on in the gym halls, but don't worry, it will be clearly sign posted.

Google Maps is your friend! Neptune stadium is about a 30mins walk from ucc anyway.
    Directions here http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=UCC+Gates&daddr=51.90454,-8.477368+to:Neptune+Stadium+%4051.907211,-8.477346&geocode=FTfcFwMdm3h-_yHJf6lHNgn7nw%3B%3BFYsKGAMdXqV-_w&hl=en&mra=dme&mrcr=0,1&mrsp=1&sz=15&dirflg=w&sll=51.90135,-8.482005&sspn=0.014405,0.038624&ie=UTF8&z=15

Presumably the exams will be in the big hall in the mardyke, I cant really see them being on anywhere else.

wheres the best place then to get parking at neptune stadium.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 340 ✭✭FluffyCat

Neptune does have a small carpark but you would have to be early. People also park on the street outside but again its a bit pokey so you would have to be early.
I got a taxi when I had an exam there, the bus was no go and the hill to the place was too cruel!!

About how much would it cost to get a taxi there if you're going from outside Castlewhite?

Unless it's raining, I'd say just walk to the Neptune. I walked there the day of my first exam in first year without knowing exactly where it was. Luckily, a woman in a shop on Shandon St. gave me directions. Once you know where it is, it's not that bad a walk. Certainly cheaper than a taxi anyway.

I wouldn't want to be wrecked tired from walking, especially when you wake up early for the exams after getting up at 11 for the past month :D

I think a taxi from UCC should be about €6, if it really is a 30 minute walk.

It's €10 or more. Traffic is awful around the quays at that time of the morning.

Ah get up and walk ye lazy gits :P

I walked from Togher up there most days during the exams last year. Its a nice walk if its sunny.

My first exam is in Aras na Mac Leinn, is this the building opposite the ORB? Think it has to be but seems small for an exam of 200 or more people...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,148 ✭✭✭✭KnifeWRENCH

Aras na Mac Leinn is the student centre, and exams take place on the first floor (in the same room where they have the clubs and societies days at the start of the year)

Is there a city bus that I can take that will get me more or less near the Neptune Stadium? Or am I better off just getting the one outside Castlewhite?

2 in Neptune this year, dreading it. Its so bloody far away, probably going to walk it this year unless I get a lift. I haven't had any there since first year so I assumed that was one of those things that they did to first years and no one else.

I wish hat was true. 4 up there myself this year though. Not fun having to go all the way through town for it.

Yeah, Neptune is some pita. Been up there twice this week and 2 more to go!
Ive just been parking near UCC and getting that Castlewhite bus up and back because I didn't fancy getting stuck in traffic in that general area, plus I wouldn't know my way around there at all. Ended up walking back to UCC Tuesday when I missed the damn bus though! Nasty walk that (especially since I was parked another 10 mins away)

the number 3 northside stops at the end of the hill by neptune in blackpool, you are better off getting the castlewhite one though, by the time you get to town wait for the bus, and then try find your stop you would be faster walking.

I've an exam in the Aula Maxima this year, which is pretty unreal!

My last exam last year was in the Devere Hall, which is really bright and generally a nice place to do an exam. Had one up in Neptune for the first time this year, it was an ok place, but it's a pain being off campus as you can't really pick up food/drinks there.
