have a good stand bag and a big bag for the trolley at the weekends
but i was thinking of getting a pencil bag,for holes in the evening,

maybe this one as i'd still prefer the double straps, anyone use one or are they a waste here due to the weather and the ground being wet or having to carry the raingear

so what do ye reckon stick to the stand bag or pick up a pencil bag

They're great for a quick 9 in the summer with a half set IMO. Obviously there's an issue in the wet but if its dry I use it all the time for holes in the evening.

Can't see why you'ld bother TBH. If you have a stand bag I mean. Would the hassle of changing the clubs not counter the slightly lighter weight?

Surely the point of these is to only carry a half set around. Personally, if I go out for a few holes in the evening, I leave either the odd or even irons plus a wood in the car and carry the rest. So no need for a seperate bag really.

I used one all the way through the winter, as it's easier to get around the course with all the ropes up etc. Grips got a little damp but nothing a towel won't sort out.

Plenty of room for everything, and I usually either had my rain gear on me or took the risk of not bringing it, although it does fit, along with all my clubs.

Now I'm back on a cart bag for summer, cos I prefer a nice leisurely stroll in the sunshine.

I couldn't be arsed swapping between bags for evening rounds and weekend rounds, that sounds way too much like a pain in the arse for me, so I'll be keeping them in the cart bag for a while.

I used this for a year, only fits about 10 or 11 sticks which was all I carried at the time, could also fit wet gear bottoms and a few small other items.

It's a pencil with a stand and double shoulder straps, picked it up in McGuirks

FYI lads, I saw Callaway pencil bags for €25 in Halpenny in Airside.

By the by, that one above I wouldn't consider a pencil bag, as it has legs, therefore is a stand bag, no??

I remember rocking up to my first ever junior medal (about age 12) with a bright blue leather pencil bag. I only had about 5 clubs at the time and the bag was so skinny i could barely fit them in it.

I walked up to the first tee where one of the older lads asked me: "Where you playing snooker today wee man?"

Cue much laughter from the 30 or so other juniors standing around waiting to tee off.

    Scarred for life.
