Which would be the best overall option in your valued opnion

Mondeo is the nicer to drive, more comfortable and better specced. Reckon it might have the Passat licked for reliability too, although the new model isn't as good as the previous. Titanium X is a great spec - has everything you could ever want.

The Passat feels very dated these days imo

I'd have an look at an Insignia Elite too.

I actually think the Mondeo looks crap now, dated within months that design. Better to drive than the Passat alright though, and better kitted out, but I'd say the Passat would have it for comfort.
So in conclusion, go for the Insignia. Much nicer interior than other two, good handling, well equipped.

I agree with Colm, you should consider the Insignia as well. It looks like a pretty good car.

If you're looking to pay a little extra for the big leather seats, the Passat is a really comfortable car. And I think it looks slightly nicer than the Mondeo as well.

Though if its looks you want, you can go for the Alfa 159.
The Passat cc is quite a good looking car as well.

Neither. Octavia or superb. 10,000 taxi drivers cant be wrong!

The Superb has them both licked for comfort, size and specification.

Between the Mondeo and the Passat it would be the Mondeo. Passat is due to be changed within 12 months and is showing it's age now. New, lower CO2 engines due in the Mondeo in the next couple of months (band B), but the Insignia is a better all round car than either of those options.

Passat has been around for 5 years now and is due a major facelift. It is really starting to look dated.

Dynamically the Mondeo is better, it drives and handles way better than the Passat. It is also alot more reliable, top spec Titanium models look the business but they cost crazy money especially when new. Mondeo has also aged poorly and I'm not gone on the bulky outside appearance especially the rear of the saloon. Diesels are also not the lowest for tax with even the 1.8 TDCi costing €302. The Mondeo is also due a mid life facelift for 2011.

I don't say this alot about Opel but as others suggested I think the Insignia has probably the best overall package out there in this class at the moment, from the interior quality to the low emmmissions diesel engined choice. They are also quite good to drive going by the reviews.

Unless you plan to use the back seats, in which case the fat arse on the Mondeo or Superb is more practical than the Insignia's swoopy styling.

Mondeo facelift is any month now and Passat is due for replacement, don't do anything yet.

If I was picking one today it would be the Mondeo. A proper big comfortable car and you get more VFM.

Unless you go for the Econetic option, €156 per year, 125bhp. Same spec as the Zetec bar alloys.

VAG seem to have a lot of DMF issues, which does not seem to be are prevaliant in the Fords.

Not sure if the Econetic is being continued or not, but since March 15th all 2.0Tdci's meet euro V emission standards and come in band B. Think there is a 110ps, deffo a 140 and 160. They were doing Powershift for free for a limited time, but that's finished :(

Don't think there is any cosmetic facelift, think it's just engines.

Pretty certain new bumpers, front and back, as well as a new grill and LEDs for the taillights, nothing major though.

    This is the facelifted Mondeo:

Very subtle and not sure when it is being launched but my guess would be towards the end of this year.
