Anybody know anything about the Mk1 Toyota MR2's? Are they generally good cars, how do they compare to the Mk2? Is there ever any for sale in Ireland at reasonable money or am I just being stupid?

The only MR2 worth having IMO!

Tasty work there Trevor! I might PM you about some work I want done if that's ok!

They are a great car. The handle like the mid engined lightweight they are and fell surprisingly quick (mixture of the low position and good balance between power and handling), good ones are very good. I was going to get one but after looking at 7 I got something else instead.
things i noticed along the way: they are crashed they are rusty and they are currently owned by the cheap fast car insured through a technicallity and being sold because they are broken brigade.

My advice is find an owners club, probably in the uk and bag a good one off an enthuasiast, if you do they are fun cheap and reliable.

Great little cars, but even 10 yrs ago you'd find it hard to find one that wasn't rusty and/or crash damaged. I went looking back then, as a friend had one that I used to drive from time to time. I drove a whole bunch of them, including a couple of supercharge ones. I gave up trying to good one though, and bought a CRX. If I was looking for a Mrk1 MR2 now, I'd want one that had been well restored. I actually like the Mr2 aswell. But its different kind of a car. Equally hard to find a good one though.

I have a 1985 MR2 MK1 - called the MK1A. Later card from '86 brcame the MK1B. Some good clubs in the UK with good spares availability. Rust is the major enemy but what a drive. Used for summer only.

    Thanks again

I've gotten one for sale if you're interested.. You may have already seen it advertised.

It's really good clean one... being an enthusiast like the previous owner it's in fantastic condition.

Spent a lot of money maintaining this car... and has to be one of the cleanest, original cars in the country!!

That's very nice. Are you interested in a Peugeot 205 GTi by any chance?
