If say someone trys using a counterfeit 50 euro note in a shop when paying for things, and its noticed, the person may or may not be guilty to be fair.

But would i be right in saying the shop should take the money out of circulation and take the persons details, then hand it all to the gardai? Do they have the legal right to do this?

Im guessing it would come under this legislation??!

They have a duty to withhold the note and inform gardai. I presume it is recommended to take the persons name and contact details in the event that the note was legit.
