Hi me and my fiancee are having a baby in July we are currently living in an apartment with 2 others i have recently being let go from job. My girlfriend has a dead end job in the cinema & is going on maternity leave in june.

We are currently on the look out for somewhere but nearly everything is too expensive for us,
just wondering if we go the the social housing department would we get a house or perhaps will she get a house if i dont put my name on birth certificate & goes on lone parent allowance. any advice kindly appreciated

Firstly, i think "entitiled" may be the wrong word to be using, but the only way i think ye would get social housing is if your girlfriend did claim that she was a lone parent. If she is working and on materinty leave not sure how it works, otherwise the two of you would be assessed which given yer situation might work out the same as there is a child involved. I think the best outcome would be rent allowance initally as social housing waiting lists are quite long. I would ring citizens information to find out more before you decide to do anything. I am not encouraging welfare fraud but at the same time the social welfare system is there for people in geuine need. good luck!

I would recommend that you not ask about committing fraud. Locking thread until a forum mod takes a look.
