Lexmark x4690 printer on Mac

I bought an iMac a few months ago, and I have been trying to install the software for my printer on it. I've gone onto Lexmark's website, downloaded all the appropriate drivers for it, but when I try to print, I get an error saying "Color table is missing. Please uninstall and reinstall the drivers". So I did this. No luck.

I did a quick Google search and I found out that I have to do an Apple software update to bring my Lexmark printer drivers up to version 2.2, so I did this. Still the same problem. It's getting very frustrating!

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could fix this problem?

By the way, it's a wireless printer, if that's at all relevant.

I have no iMac expeience, and don't know that particular printer model either, but when I Have wireless problems, I generally try to eliminate that first. I suggest printing 'wired' first to see if that works, just to rule out any basic problems.

Delete and trash all the drivers you installed from the Lexmark site firstly, then go into Software Update and it should install from here.

Also try out what Brian suggests as well; does the printer show up on the WIFI network correctly by any chance?

Yes, the printer shows up on the Wireless Network. I'm going to try deleting those drivers now. Is it just a matter of locating the appropriate .dmg file and trashing it?

You do know that the .dmg files aren't the printer drivers, they are the downloads? Sorry, if its a stupid question, but that is what I am reading in you rlast post.... Have you double clicked on the .dmg files and followed the instructions?

You can but you may find you have some residual files/drivers/utilities lurking around the place. Try something like Cleanapp http://www.synium.de/products/cleanapp/index.html or Appzapper http://appzapper.en.softonic.com/mac for a deeper and thorough cleanout. It's only a few $ for these but there is a trial on both so either should sort you out.

Another thing to bear in mind; there may be an option to uninstall the programme on the installation DVD so have a look at it before you do anything to do with deleting first up.
