A real pick'em IMO. Mitchell has the skill to outbox the Kat but has he got the power to really discourage him....

    Anyone going ?

This could be F.O.T.Y. I am really excited about this fight. Not enough hype surrounding it in my opinion. It's a really tough one to call Katsidis is tough as nails and both fighters have the ability to KO each other. If I have to choose I would go with Katsidis KO. I think he could drag Mitchell into a war like he usually does and stop him. Mitchell is favourite with the bookies, I think if it goes the distance Mitchell may nick it having home advantage and that. Really tough one to call. I genuinely think we could see multiple knock downs in this fight, it will be decided by who wants that belt more.

If Mitchell wins there could be a Khan/Mitchell fight on the horizon. British super fight.

i would fancy Mitchell on this one Spoke to Stephen Ormond who has been over in London sparring with Mitchell and he thinks Mitchell hits hard with a good jab the only downside i would have of watching Mitchell fight recently is that he carries his left hand quite low leaving him wide open for the right hand but it would be good for Frank Warren if Mitchell wins so i suspect they got him the right fight.

Katsidis looks in tip top condition, the day i meet him he had been running up a moutain that morning, then back in the gym that night bag work and sparing..

I'm thinking Mitchell, because I genuinely like the guy and that might be clouding my judgment! Katsidis is dangerous though, regardless should be a great fight...

Kat has that never say die attitude and can take a heavy punch. Great to see Sky haven't tried to make this a ppv as it has the potential to be a fight of the year canadate

This is Mitchell's wet dream come true, perfect fight for him.
Can't see this going beyond 9 rounds.

A Mitchell victory despite the threat that Katsidis will provide.

I think a British super-fight with Khan is further down the line. Not in the forseeable future.

I do not see a Khan-Mitchell fight ever happening. I think 135 lbs is Mitchell's limit. Khan, IF he improves and keeps winning will be at 147 lbs in a couple of years.

Mitchell could move on up, but when he gets there Khan will also have moved up

I honestly can't wait for this bout. It is absolutely GUARANTEED to be a very good fight with the styles of both.

I find it very hard to predict, but unlike everyone else I would not be surprised to see it go the full route (barring cuts, which Kas is susceptible to). I think Mitchell can outbox him for periods but whether he's physically strong enough to withstand the constant, constant pressure and hard hitting is another thing.

I'm gonna record it as I'm going to the Limerick bill, but I'm going to try to avoid finding out the result so I can watch it as 'live' when I get home.

    Hurry up Saturday night.

Ya it's Sky Sports 1, card starts at 8pm, I'm guessing main event will be sometime between 10-11pm.
I fancy Katsidis for the upset btw. Mitchell can outbox him and does have the power to hurt him, but he'll be dragged into a war by Katsidis and it'll be like when he fought Carl Johanneson all over again. Except Katsidis is better than Johanneson and won't let Mitchell off the hook(instead he'll walk him onto them :p).

Kevin is bigger, stronger and more experienced since the Johannson fight.

Kats is an "old" and worn fighter. Mitchell will be too slick and fresh and all around good for Katsidis

He looked fine against Escobedo to me, and while I do agree that Mitchell has improved and turned into a lovely boxer no one so far has managed to fight katsidis and not get dragged into a war. He'll force Mitchell to fight his fight for long periods and while Mitchell could win in a war between them I suspect he won't.

This isn't Prescott he's facing, Katsidis knows how to be effective with his pressure. Fairplay to Mitchell if he does win however, it'll prove he's good enough to operate in geuine World Class.

you are spot on with your analysis there.

This is a tough tough fight for Mitchell, just like Sky to imply a win is a foregone conclusion.
Katsidis is menacing in his pre fight talk, keeping his mouth shut. I think he might even be in Mitchells head a little bit

Mitchell is a good fighter though but I have a feeling Katsidis has got inside his head.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 94 ✭✭Brad Goodman

I like Mitchell but I think he's going to have to hope Katsidis has an off night like he did against Diaz. I see Mitchell get hit with big shots at some stage and letting his heart rule his head by engaging in the brawl Katsidis wants. If that happens you'd have to fancy Katsidis unless Mitchell can cut him up enough for a stoppage. A Dave Paris special, if you will.

Danny Williams is supposed to be having his final fight tonight. He has no legs anymore. His punch resistance is completely gone.

It would be nice to see him go out on a win and ko that obnoxious twunt Chisora. I think Chisora will probably stop him though. :(

Surprised to see Parris stop it when he did. It was the correct decision but still I thought he'd try let Mitchell get through it given he was the hometown fighter and British.

Well that bet was money in the bank anyway...
It was good while it lasted, toe to toe, mitchell couldn't keep Katsidis in distance, he got in the brawl and the rest was no surprise!

Very true. He nailed Kevin and then he closed the show. Kevin's chin seems suspect.

Mitchell lacked the ring smarts against a superior fighter. I dont think his chin is that suspect he was caught with several good shots and didnt know how to deal with it..

Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions
"Given they are all in the house-rocking business, it would be an attractive business proposition to lure Katsidis up to 10 stone from lightweight; Khan would have the double-edged motive of restoring British pride and proving he could do what Mitchell clearly failed to do."
Can you see the Khan vs Katsidis happenning?

I'd love to see it happening as both are a joy to watch. It would be very simlilar to Mictchell beating Prescott in many ways.

I don't believe Khan hits as hard as people think and would struggle to discourage a dude like Katsidis. dangerous fight for Amir. Lets not get carried away with that win, Khan still requires guidance..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,380 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

It's the sheer speed of Khan's punches that make people think he hits hard. He not a one punch knock out kind of fighter. Katsidis is as durable as they come but i don't think he'd be able to cope with the speed of Khan. If he did manage to then Khan would be in serious trouble.

I think he could handle it enough to land one of two of this own shots and that is when knees begin to wobble.

I agree to that... Katsidis got hit last night, but he managed to get in close and explode on Mitchell. If Mitchell had kept hitting him and keeping him on his jab, Katsidis wouldn't have kept it up for too long. I would imagine that Khan should be able to keep him away from him and do what Mitchell couldn't.

I would, however, love to see that fight happenning and I'll be up for Kats big time!

Yes, I do remember thinking that Carl would take Kevin out several times during their epic scrap.

But, that was a few years back at 130 lbs. I was hoping the maturity and experience and rise in weight would help him. But, Kats is a better banger than
    Carl.

Mitchell's chin isn't very bad, but he did seem very hurt last night and didn't recover. He wanted to trade after being hurt and there was a point in the third where he had Kats hurt too.

It was a very good 3 rd scrap. I was so wanting Mitchell to make it out of rd 3, as this had the potential to be such a good scrap.

I would love to see Kats-Prescott. Prescott seems to be quite durable in the chin
department. I reckon it makes for a super war

He recovered the first time and came back aggressively unfortunately for him he was tagged again and this time Katisdis didn't give him the opportunity to recover.

Maybe a knee was required - either way lets not take anything away from the Kat - he came, he saw, he conquered.

I heard Katsidis was in hospital after the fight to get glass removed from his fist :D

Mitchell took hard shots in fairness but didn't know what to do, similiar to Bernard Dunne
