Has anyone had any experience of the recruitment process for this programme?

Just been asked to attend a psychometric testing session next week, curious to see if anybody knows what should be expected.

    Hi Pablo,

The psycometric testing is just a verbal reasoning test and a numerical reasoning test in which you are put in a room and timed doing each one. The verbal one is quite tough/tricky so i would advise doing a few practice ones. You have to get a certain grade in each before they let you through for interviewing. SHL is the best place to practice these kind of tests.

The interview itself will probably be with a HR person and a member of Management. Pretty straightforward really, just basically going through your CV and getting to know you. Nothing too testing to be honest. Can last anything from 30 mins to an hour depending on how well your getting on with them I suppose.

You will have to do a second interview if you get through that with two different employees. Pretty much the same deal as the first. Just double checking you I guess

Yeah I've tried the SHL practice tests before. You seem to know quite a bit, have you applied to them too?

Yeah I have been through the process. Got a really good feel off the company and the people working up there. Seems like it would be a great place to work. Do you have the testing this week?

So, is the psychometric testing just a basic test that all applicants do, or is it a positive sign in terms of actually getting a job?

Neither. Don't mean to sound arrogant here but I applied to a few companies in financial services and always got past the aptitude tests, so was surprised that I didn't get through on this occasion. I'd be wary of whether they're hiring at all or just wish to give the impression that they're strong enough to be hiring. Saw this a few weeks after my tests:

All applicants do them, only one of the many hoops they'll make you jump through!

I passed the aptitude tests but only just about. I was also told my results and while my numerical one scored very high, my verbal reasoning one was borderline. Its the lack of practice that is the problem, most (like me) weren't too worried about the verbal - but it is very tough and its hard to know how your doing (i thought i was flying it!)

I also successfully completed a lot of these tests before with different companies and have always had difficulty with the verbal reasoning ones. The HR girl told me you have to get a minimum mark in each and a lot of people are failing the verbal reasoning. My low mark was a bit of a dent to the ego considering I got an A1 in English all those years ago during the LC.

They are actually hiring, some graduates have started in there already. And it looks like they are still filling places
