Had one and it broke my 1tb hard drive, corrupted the files rendering it useless. great gadget other than that, though i'd reccomend just using usb sticks with it.

    Yeah I got a couple..
Mostly worked well, had a couple of issues with files not been recognised, but it's probably more down to writing NTFS from MAC.
Doesn't support MKV format, but supports most other formats.
I think the 1080p is upscaling also..

mmm, I had corrupted files also on my 1TB, but I blamed MAC writing NTFS.. cudda been this puppy.

I've ordered one with a 4 gig Scandisk card, only £23 so worth a punt.

    Aren't 1TB drives problematic anyway?

Bought one a couple of weeks back and its a great little yoke with usb sticks. Simple gadget, once files recognised. Had trouble getting them to the right format. Good Buy

Thanks for the discount code OP. Have ordered one. Quick Googling suggests it's quirky but I'm sure it'll get some use it's so handy.

I have one of these and it works great. Only complaint is that it doesnt play mkv and the remote is pants.

Sound doesn't work through HDMI for me, so it'll be going back. Has anyone else had this problem?

Was thinking about getting one of these but the on-line reviews aren't great.

Avoid buying this mine stopped working after a month. Tried to get it replaced but the ebay guy i bought it from was looking for 20 euro to pay for return postage. Taking it only cost about 30 new total rip off. It never work great even at the best of times.

Could have done with seeing this thread last week. Bought one when someone posted it in another thread on here. Arrived today. Everything working perfectly. Fingers crossed i suppose.

They are good, have one with about 2 months. Really handy.

Its pretty basic however its much better value that the WDTV ones.
I would using it with usb disk that doesnt have precious data on it though - its easy enough for a non computer literate person to reformat.

Don't expect miracles for €20. The upscaling works OK, it seems fussy about the exact compression formats/ratios being used (I'm suspecting audio in particular) and it looks to format my portable HD when I turn it on. It occasionally bombs out during picture slideshows too. Pictures are a bit soft but audio is fine.

It's a clever yoke, but far from perfect. Confine it to occasional stick or card use and you'll be fine. For €20, its a punt anyway.

BTW it outputs HDMI and composite.

There must be major QC issues between units!

Mine arrived yesterday. The problem I've hit is that it can't see the avi files on either a USB key or an *SD card.
*I was once able to get it to find and play the avi file on the SD card but that was using a random sequence of keys on the remote and removing then re inserting the card.
The time it did work it played the avi fine.

Does anyone have any tried and trusted formats for a USB stick that this device will read? i.e formatted to FAT32 with a Vista machine.
Should I be trying to keep the AVI files to size limit?

Don't buy this cause it doesn't really *work.....well it does work but don't expect to watch the end of any movie/
    tv
show on it because it cuts of every video by a couple of minutes......its a waste of cash. Shell out a few extra euro for a better media player!

    +1
Have one since end of last year, never a problem of any kind with it.
Plays from usb, card & hard drive. Remote is a bit crappy, that would be my only gripe. Well worth the money.
