Got a letter from Fiat this morning saying my 98 reg Punto is subject to a recall due to possible erosion of brake pipes.
I actually just sold it but thought I'd post this in case anyone else is affected and didn't get the letter.

Seems strange on such an old model. Any external corrosion should have long since been picked up either during servicing or the NCT.

According to VOSA website, a recall for corroded brake pipes with the old Punto was launched in 2001.

I'm surprised it's taken over eight years to get to you! Would this be something that's caught during the NCT test?

I thought it was a bit strange. The car has been serviced and NCTed several times since 2001.
Maybe it's a clever marketing ploy by Fiat ?

I think the owners already know how bad they are.

Most people I know with puntos have very little trouble with them

I bought one new myself, just pre-empting the bandwagon :D
