Well if we get it I'm going to be holding onto it for a good few years.

I've three kids and a dog, and if you're keeping it for a few years, I'd go bigger. Shame to buy new and have to trade up for more space in a year or two. We've an S-Max like this one, and it's the business:

+1 for the Smax, was in one recently, 6 of us with luggage and laptops, fine cars in fairness.

    Hi Folks,

What are your views on Peugeout as a make? I've heard conflicting views with regards to reliability. Some people say that they are bad electrically and have a bad dealer network in Ireland. Other's say they are great and have never let them down.

My wife is due our third child in December and after some considerable searching for the right car I must admit the 5008 looks to be a good bet.

Some views would be very appreciated.

The new Toyoya Corolla Verso is bigger than the old one and will do the job reliably for a good few years. Sure, Autocar say the S-Max is better but it won't be as reliable as the Verso - despite all the recent histerical press coverage. The Verso will be boring to drive by comparison, but then again, just how much do you want to throw the car into roundabouts, etc with 6 people in the back?

The Pug itself looks good - especially the interior - but I would have doubts about the real quality. Maybe they are now better, maybe they are not ...

    And its not too ugly:

It's as big as a 5008, but it's not as big as an S-max.

Few hours after we gave the S max back we all piled into a Galaxy, the S max seems as big except for behind the back row of seats luggage space.

The third row seats in the S-Max are smaller, only suitable for kids or very short runs. The Galaxy has 7 full size seats.

You may well be right, the back back seat passenger was happier in the Galaxy :)

If you are into cars and enjoy driving I don't think any MPV compares to an Smax.I tested all of these type of cars when third child was imminent and bought one. It is surprisingly swift(2.0 tdci) and handling is excellent. Plenty of space and no probs in two years of ownership.
They are quite expensive to buy however in comparison to others.

We have same dilemma at the moment also, looking at a new 5008 or a 2008/2009 S-max - just wondering, which, if either did you buy in the end...? Looked at Galaxy but don't like it for us, just too big at the moment.....

The Verso is way of the pace IMO. Poor accomodation, the drive isn't great, the interior isn't clever in anyway and its just a dreary place to be. Everything from the mainstream manufacturers has it beaten from the S-Max, Grand Scenic, Picasso, 5008 through to the not so direct competition like the Qashqai and so on.
