has anyone had the same problems as me when trying to claim for car repairs from this crowd. i have had two problems with my car which mapfre say are not covered. they seem to have every excuse in the book to get out of paying up.

What did they say were not covered?

Yeah. Watch out for what they will and won't cover in future.

We had the same issue with a van at work. What I suggest is go and argue with the salesperson who led you to believe you had a 3/ 6/ 12 month warranty but failed to use the word 'limited' when they were selling you the car. No doubt you were handed the booklet only after you handed over the cheque.

In our case, we bitched and bitched until the garage covered the portion of the bill the warranty wouldn't.

was told that normal wear and tear is not covered by the warranty. to me, any fault that occurs with a car is usually down to wear and tear. i have been told to bring my car to a dealer and have it stripped down to find the fault and if it is not covered i will have to pay the dealer for the stripdown and refit. i cant win.

    What's wrong with it, like?

Normal wear and tear isn't covered under any warranty.

If it's a part that shouldn't break then it should be covered under warranty (gearbox, door handle, interior trim to name but a few), but if it's a part that should wear out as part of it's design, then it's not covered (fuel filter, tyres etc.)

What exactly is it supposed to be? I'm guessing clutch which is a wearable part.

    Hi all,

i just contacted MAPFRE warranty and i can tell you don't waste your money on them, its very hard to get any money out of them. When you buy a car if garage offers you MAPFRE warranty either push the price down or go and buy private at least you save some money on private sale! If you read this please pass it on to everyone you know!

I had awful trouble with them. I have a warranty direct warranty now which covers wear and tear after 90 days. Mapfre basically only covers things that suddenly and completely break down. I had a synchro go in a gearbox in a car with 60k on it and they wouldnt cover it.

We got a mapfre warranty (2 years) with the missus 05 Scenic when we bought it in 08. Early last year the camshaft sensor was acting up. The car was still driving fine , just had the check emissions light on.

We rang Mapfre and they had a recovery truck out that afternoon and the cra was ready to be collected about 36 hours later. Got a loan of a car for the time too.

I also had a 06 Meganes with a Mapfre warranty and the coil packs went on the car, I called them up and they sent me to a local dealer where the fixed the car at no cost to me. I say it was worth it as it would have cost about €300.
