08's with DSG can be bought for around the 20K mark.
Id imagine a new MK6 will be closer to 40K.
Is the face lift and 10BHP worth 20K of your money?

Sorry, I see your going to wait a year and try and pick up a S/H MK6.
Guess in the current economic climate, they will be rare enough, keeping used prices high. I havent even seen one yet.

Me neither, you'd swear they have'nt even been released yet! And, as ST says, there would be very little diference between a Mk6 and a Mk5 so i'd also go for a second hand Mk5

Why wait? We'd never buya a car if were constantly waiting for the new one to come down in price. The MKV is a agreat car, a huge improvement over the MKIV, the jump from V to VI isn't as big. I'd go for it!

Have you driven both? I LOVE my DSG MkV GTi.. Haven't driven the new MK6 yet but from what I've read there's not that much difference for you to justify nearly double the price.
Gonna get it remapped to 240 horses during the sumer too :)

If you're thinking of waiting a year, then do that and get a MKV for about 12k! :D

There's no point in waiting really unless you're a reg snob or want 'the latest version'.
