Sorry for starting a new thread but basically I got a new ps3 recently with MW2 in the package. However I havent played MW1... would it matter if I go straight into the game or will I be missing any necessary storylines etc. from MW1 which are needed for MW2??

    Cheers

Not really no, there are characters from the first game and they are continued on from the first game but you wont miss out on anything hugely important imo. Fire away, its good fun.

You won't be missing any necessary storylines really, it has elements of the story from MW1 in it though it won't massively impact your enjoyment of it. I would suggest getting MW1 anyway though as it's a better single player experience.

The intro for MW2 basically brings you up to speed anyway, bad guy from the first ones protege continues on the cause, sh1t goes down.

Do get MW1 though, zavvi.com have it for 22.50 delivered on ps3, its the game of the year version too even though it isnt advertised so you get the extra maps, got it there a few weeks back.

Cheers lads... I have just ordered MW1 on amazon for 20 quid. I might as well start from scratch:pac:

The character you play as in MW1 has a big role in MW2 so it is worth getting the backstory, its not essential but there are some references to the previous game in the soldiers banter during the levels. I dont like playing a sequel to a game I didnt play the original as I dont like missing stuff, its like watching a sequel movie when you havent seen the first. I did it with Uncharted 2 as I just got my ps3 that day and borrowed my flatmates copy and loved it, but I knew there were jokes and references I wasnt getting as I hadnt played the previous game, so I bouht that as well.
