    Hellooo :)
I have me lc to do this year and me mates gave me the job of planning the holiday to Kerry(lazy bastards :P)?
well I found a house to rent for a week in Kerry.
seems like a very nice cosy area...
but only problem is that we're in Dublin and haven't got a clue on how to travel from when we get to Killarney in Kerry :P... lol
so we're gonna take train to Killarney?will cost about 20 quid?
but I don't know how to get to other places in Kerry after that :( lol
places such as Caherciveen or Caherdaniel or Anascaul?

since we're students, I would really appreciate if I could get few advices on fairly cheap way of getting to them places...
    thanks :)

Oh also, if you have any good/bad experiences in Kerry while on holidays there, I would love to hear them as well :)
    cheers.

Hmmmm... If no one has any cars my first suggestion would be to forget about touring the Kerry countryside and going somewhere else, perhaps abroad, to a city which has public transport. You really have little choice besides taking the bus everywhere unless you happen to be very rich students !

The train will be about €50 per person, not €20.

€20 for the train doesnt sound right to me, did you price that ?
The bus station is right next door to the train station in Killarney so you will prob be able to get a bus to one of your locations. Other than that you willl be stuck there cause the bus will prob run about 3 times a day if you are lucky. Bein "poor students" unless ye can hire a car i'd forget about it or else just stay in Killarney.
If ye must stay in the country go to Galway, way better craic and everything within striking distance and with reasonable public transport.

Kerry is not like Dublin, where there are frequent bus routes. Dublin is a city, Kerry is a rural area, and other than towns like Tralee, Listowel, Dingle and Kilarney, the majority of the county is not any bus route. Bus Eireann does run services but there are mostly between the major towns etc, and are not like Dublin Bus which go here there and everywhere.

The way most people explore Kerry is by car, the scenery is amazing and its soo different to Dublin.

If you dont have a car, try looking into tour companies such as Paddy Wagon tours. The best place to go for into would be the Tourist Info place on Suffolk Street, the big church which you probally have walked past soo many times and never noticed what it was.

When you are looking at renting a house for a week, and are relying on public transport, make sure that where you are renting is right in the centre of the town or village. Just cos the address may be Cahersiveen, dosnt necessarly mean that it will be on the main street next door to the pub and shop. The majority of rural address's have the nearest town or village but could be 5 or 6 miles from the main street. Example, my grans address is Mrs ********, (local area), Tralee, Co Kerry, but her house is actaully over 5 miles from the town of Tralee, along back roads, and no buses go there.

To start you on your research
there are 7 trains per day to Kerry, from Dublin Heuston but only the 17.05 train is a direct train, all the others you have to change at Mallow.

Coming back to Dublin, there are 8 trains per day, and only 2 are direct, all the others you again have to change at Mallow

I just checked the price for a journey leaving Dublin on friday 7 May and returning Sunday 9 May.
    Adult Euro 72
    Student Euro 47.50

Cahersiveen is 1 and a half hours bus journey from Kilarney and there are only 3 buses monday to saturday and 1 bus on sundays

Annascaul is 1 hour by bus from Killarney and there are only 2 buses monday to saturday, no sunday service

Thanks to everyone for their reply ! :)
and wow...I didn't think train would be that expensive...I was lied to I guess about the price :D lol

It's not that we're 'poor students but it is recessionary times to be honest and too much money will put most of the people off this trip so just wondering how much transport would cost.

we're just looking for an area close to beach with house that we can play loud music in without harming neighbours or anything to be honest.

my mate told me about being able to rent out a mini bus from the train station?that way we can split the cost between us?
    anyone know about that?

also, any suggestion to a place close to beach, any offlicense&shop and house that we ca nplay loud music in kerry, galway, waterford, dongal etc would be very very appreciated :D
I'm sure good few people have places like this they've been to during the teenage years :)
    thanks
