Hey guys, I'm a huge fan of animated TV shows; and i'm looking to branch out and try some more animations I might have overlooked. The only caveat is that it has to look "drawn" (i.e. The Simpsons or South Park, not CGI like Reboot)

Here's the animated shows I currently watch :

South Park, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama
The Life & Times of Tim (fantastic seinfeld-like show)
Ugly Americans (a show i'm trying to get into, it's alright)

(I don't really enjoy American Dad, Archer or The Cleaveland Show)

Can you recommend me some shows based on what I like?

Is The Maxx any good? (I saw it ages ago but sure i was a kid back then)
    How's Drawn Together?

Avatar: The Last Airbender is great. There's a film coming out this year based on the first series (M. Night Shyamalan is directing though :()

    Samurai Jack
Undergrads (About 1st year undergrads in college in the states)
Yu-Gi-Oh! (The original not the GX sh1t is really good once you get into it)
    God, The Devil and Bob
Red vs Blue (Halo team based series, funny. Rooster Teeth)
Lucy the daughter of the Devil (decent enough)

Then you have the 90's classics:
    Spider-man
    Batman The Animated Series
    X-Men
Earthworm Jim (The comedy in this is still Gold)
    Johnny Bravo

Cheers for the ideas lads. I watched a few eps of Drawn Together and I just don't like it. Maybe it's the 'reality show' gimmick; i should be finding the stuff funny, the stereotypes turned on it's head, the references to nerdy things; but i think although it's similar to South Park in terms of crudity, it has none of the witty, biting social commentary and morality tale that SP is known for since ~S5 onwards....Maybe it's a bit too in my face or something...

I'm not really into any Anime or that kind of thing; but I'll give Samurai Jack a chance (I've seen it before but I've not really watched it)...what are you favourite episodes? I did enjoy God, The Devil & Bob, i was really surprised it didn't get another season. Maybe it was a case of not a huge following and a real touchy subject. Maybe next time I'll put the Kangaroos on top of the food chain. Wait, where will mankind be? Somewhere in the middle. Enjoyable animation...

Batman was the smartest of the 90s animated shows, right? Were all the seasons good or is it a bit meh going back? Like i remembered X-Files to be really smart and interesting; and it's kinda crap re-watching it....

    The Venture Brothers is outstanding.

And Adventure Time finally got a full series that started a few weeks ago and it's absolutely brilliant.

You can see the pilot that was released online a year or 2 back here:

Aqua Teen Hunger Force is a personal fav. just for Master Shake though avoid the movie.

Also if you like the older family guys Id give American Dad another chance.

Venture Bros., Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Harvey Birdman are all great shows. They used to show all of them on Adult Swim on Bravo but not anymore unfortunatley.:(

Beavis and Butthead is worth checking out. I bought a box set with all the episodes and the movie for around 15 euro online a few weeks ago.

cool; i have a few shows to check out!!

Beavis & Butt-head is/was a lot of fun; watched most of the episodes; some are still really funny. It's a pity they didn't have longer stories.

Aqua teen not my cup of tea :(

Adventure Time, Samurai Jack, Boondocks, Harvey Birdman, Venture Bros next on the list!

I can't do American Dad anymore; it uses the same plot structure every ep and I can't get past it!!
Stan is ignorantly stubborn about something. Something happens where Stan is forced to see the error of his ways, and apologises. Some AD's are great but the structure gets to me. How many different things can stan be ignorantly stubborn about!

check out ren & stimpy :)

thanks mate, I love R&S! Spaaaaaace...madness! I can picture Ren taking a gratifying bit from the bar of soap :D they got a bit unfunny after 1-2 seasons; i'm not sure but i think they switched networks or writers or something...but when they were on top form they were amazing!

something i always thought hilarious about the show is that they kept drawing R&S differently; it was so random but awesome! Always different expressions and altered features

Cow & Chicken was good for a laugh, though it may have aged badly.

If you liked Batman:TAS you should check out Batman Of The Future and the film that went with it, Return Of The Joker. Personally I thought The Batman was ok, not great. Worth checking out the first season if you can get it cheap, at any rate.

Justice League Unlimited is also well worth getting, it's fantastic. I wasn't at all keen on Teen Titans though, the style and writing is totally different.

Boondocks is also worth looking at - at least check out the Uncle Ruckus episodes, he's by far the best character.

Daria is pretty amazing. Its not on anymore though, you'd have to find it on the internet.

Another thought - King of the Hill is also worth a look. A lot of people dismissed it as "Not Beavis & Butthead" when it first aired, in the same way that Futurama wasn't The Simpsons, but it's pretty damn funny if you get into it.

Ha, love KOTH. Although recently (in the last few months), Hank's intolerance towards Bobby has started to grate on me. Started making comparisons to Hank and Stan from American Dad, whose intolerance is the proponent of many, many episodes.

Such a shame the final few DVDs aren't gonna be released, i have loads of 'em.

Daria isn't my cup of tea, but thanks for recommending! I never liked her deadpan condescending attitude towards B&B.
