    hi all,

I was in the shower last week, and it just stopped.
The trip switch on the main fuse board had flipped down.
I flipped it back up, power is going to shower.
It makes normal noise but no hot water, it's not heating water at all.

I usually have 20 min showers and have been told thats probably too long.
The shower is about 8 years old.
    Thermostat has been replaced twice.
Very hard water area, clogs up everything.

Do you think it is dead?
    Any idea of approximate cost?
    Any ideas or solutions?

I have been having baths every day and am getting roasted having the central heating on to get hot water

    Any answers greatly appreciated :)

Time for change I would think.

Shower approx cost €295. Fitting about €60 plus VAT

    :( thats money I don't have right now :(

I was hoping it might be able to be fixed maybe?

    Anyone else any ideas?

You could fix it.Element probably around €100 for part and labour on top, over €60 atleast.

Weighing it up I'd rather a new shower with a warrenty than throwing another part into an old one.

    I'm clean! :)

    Thanks for your advice Micky.

I rang around got a few quotes, most seemed to be quoting around €290 for shower plus about €60 - €70 labour.

I shopped around and got a Triton T90xr from a plumbing supplies merchant for €240 and I got a plumber to come and install it the same day I called him! He said €50 for labour over the phone, then said €40 when he was finished! I gave him €70, I was so impressed and I suppose I was smelly too! ;)

    So a good news story!
The moral of the story is: shop around for your shower!

Great deal on the Mira elite at the moment... Very sim to the T90

    €222.

How could you go wrong. Traditionaly woodies has always been cheapest on the T90 and b&q on the mira but yes no harm in driving around... You will at least save petrol
