Has anyone else watched this yet? One of those films that I find it hard to make up my mind about. On one hand it is a treat for the senses - on those regular moments when the lush visuals and sweeping soundtrack come together it is a pure cinematic treat. The opening and closing scenes in particular feel like a love letter to the medium. Tilda Swinton et al do a wonderful job too, as to be expected. Yet for some of the interesting points raised by the story, the melodrama did make it a little overblown on occasion. The
    Edo dying
plot development felt like one contrivance too far. I still loved the last scene, even though it was OTT, but the story on the whole seems to shift between insightful and silly. The considered pacing is sometimes welcome, but sometimes drags too.

Curious to hear some other opinions. If I was to use one word to describe it, I'd probably be lazy / non-committal and just say its interesting, but worth a watch.
