They will probably not be doing it for forseeable future but my choice would be John Cadell from Phantom to take over the Alisons old slot. Otherwise Dave Couse.
    Anyone?

Is it up for grabs again? KC not doing the business?

Derek Byrne. John Kelly as well but that might br a bit too wierd.

Dont think it is but wish it was. John Kelly would be another good choice but I think as a rule he plays a lot of classical musical and stuff from before the sixties (still one of the best shows around though). As for KC just dont listen to him. He is totally out of place on that schedule and thing was it was a good time to be listening to music.

KC is just another Ray Foley (also from Mayo:eek:). I'd like Dave Couse but he's probably too similar to McLoone in terms of musical tastes, which really isn't a bad thing imo.

Anyway, we're stuck with KC so just switch over to the very capable Dan Hegarty on 2fm.

Yes may do that. Or at this stage. Stick with Phantom altogether. Its a bit of drag having to switch the dial in the morning though ;)

They didn't give Alison long enough on this slot. They usually give presenters 2 years to find their feet and get their audience and while she increased listenership from the previous host, it began a slight decline. Problem is they never gave her a chance to boost it back up and maybe shake things up a little.

I like Dave Couse on the radio, he can go on a bit too much sometimes but he has a good range in each show, but as said above, it would be McLoone pt2 (also, no harm).

I thought the show was good particulary when they went around the pubs in Ireland in the summer.
That said there were probably too many gimicks near the end. The reacting movie scenes was very messy I thought.
Get the point about Couse. probably too much like McLoone. But dont think any consideration was given to fact that some listeners dont get to radio till after ten. THe large chunk of day is given to mainstream music so KCs slot I believe eats into the indie time.
Michelle Doherty maybe another candidate but she seems to enjoy her slot on Phantom.

I can't get Phantom down in East Clare unfortunately, are they on digital?

You can get them online or if you have chorus digital on radio stations. 105.2 is their frequency

It would have to be Dave Couse.. altho, I'd prefer to move Donal Dineen back to this slot...

I've really stopped listening to Irish radio. I wasn't aware Alison Curtis was doing that slot until recently which is a pitty because i thought she was great when she was on phantom and i would have tunned in to listen to her. I used to listen to the last splash a bit and always thought it was good. Hopefully she'll get another chance.

To be fair she seems to like her new slot. Yeah might tune into yer man Hegarty but as rule I tend to avoid 2fm

Hegarty was good when he was on phantom as well. He went by Dan D or Dandy as i liked to call him when i texted in. What's Alison's new slot?

Why the f*ck would she like her 5am slot. If you had listened to her, it's quite obvious she was shafted.

Got the impression she was happy to go. She did some presenting on Ian Dempsey show so she had done the early shifts before.
And yeah listened to her a lot. Show isn't great but again I think that was her decision. Not to replace her with an Indie DJ was theirs.

To be fair, her music choice regularly took a slightly feminist angle, and she never stopped going on about Oreo's.. didn't really like it, just like Oreo's..

Yeah would be great to have her back but it was her decision. Her Last night she said she was really looking forward to her new show.
That said didnt really need to hear about her Ikea bed which she posted on her blog. Still she is one of the good ones in there.

Now leaning towards Richie Ryan. He rings his mum up every saturday for footballling tips on Phantom soccer show. Very likeable chap

Richie Ryan is alright. Plenty of Jam and English music which is grand. I think having Alison Curtis on at 5am is pretty stupid. It would be nice to see her back at phantom i think she is wasted in that time slot.

Yeah she is one of the nicest DJ's around. Cant see her going back to Phantom tbh.
