Is is quite possible that within the next 2 months I am going to be faced with redundancy. Obviously I need to start making plans now. My CV is done, and ready to go, I am actively looking for, and applying for jobs, starting to look at living expenses etc etc

Does anyone who has been through this before have any practical advise they could offer?

I got made redundant last week.
If you do get let go,make sure you know and get your proper entitlements-i've a feeling i was done out of a weeks wages.
Go to the dole office as soon as you get your p45 to sign on.
You seem to be well organised, keep applying for jobs, keep records of the jobs you've applied for so you can show it if the social welfare ask. And keep your chin up! Might not happen!

Read title. Thought you were getting circumcised.

Odd how my mind works sometimes.

If your pretty sure you're going to be made redundant (have you worked with the company for two years or more?) don't move to a new job if you can help it or you'll lose your entitlement to a redundancy payment.

OP, posting in AH for advice is like "a box of chocolates" - for actual problems you'd be better off with advice from this man ^^ :)

Posting for advice in AH is like a Fatty looking for a ride at Americas next top model auditions.

After the laughing, after the jokes, you might get one...but the one he gets probably was in the wrong place too

Sorry to hear about that. Citizens advise should help you out. It is hard but not impossible.

Thanks all for the replies - both the ones that made me laugh and the ones offering advice. And a lesson learnt about posting in AH.
In terms of my actual situation, it could be a lot worse. I'm with the company 11 years and have a pretty reasonable salary. The package is 5 weeks for every year including statutory, so bottom line is that I will have over a years salary as performance bonus, etc etc is all taken into account.
I guess my immediate concerns are in making sure I am fully educated about entitlements, and taking any practical steps that I can now to mitigate whatever would be the worst case scenario. I'm also concerned about the prospects of finding another job, and knowing that when I do, the chances of getting the same salary as I have now are pretty slim.
