How do I go about recording gameplay using something like this:

    Appreciate any help, thanks!

    Here's more info... http://www.ces-show.com/0083/pinnacle/video/usb-video-recorder/.
    Hope that answers your question.
Let me know if there is anything else I can google for you...

    That info is old..
Can be picked up much cheaper than what's suggested ;)
It's essentially the same as a dazzle (pinnacle own dazzle) but with H264 encoding.

Like other discussions before http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055854060 and http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055887006 you will need to use either composite video or s-video.

The main difference here is you MUST split the video signal before hand so that you can actually watch it as I believe this device buffers internally and then transfers to a dumb FAT file system (could be wrong) - there is no preview.

So how do I go about splitting it before hand? Can't see the video in the second link at the moment so I'm not sure if that explains it. At the moment, the above recorder works perfectly for recording off the tv - plug it in, have the usb inserted and the scart going in to the back of the tv. Obviously I tried this with the ps3 and it didn't work.

How do you have the PS3 connected to the TV?

thats where your goin wrong it dont support HDMI you gotta use the composite leads :p been tryin to find how to set that up wit PS3 on youtube no joy

exactly - you can't connect TV via HDMI and expect it to pass out a decrypted/downsampled version of the vid.
You need to use either an S-Video or a Composite AV lead from the PS3.
I suspect if your grabbing the video from the TV you will need to use composite as potsy suggests. Otherwise consider a splitter for S-Video which will give you a better pic to record.

@potsy86 - thought you were sorted with the coupler and the splitters?! Still ahving issues or just haven't got the stuff together yet?
