Trailer is due out next weekend, Mastadon are currently scoring the film and it's shaping up to be a real treat.

I don't know anything about this film, but having just seen it on IMDB I must say thats a weird cast list. Josh Brolin, Malkovich, Michael Shannon / Fassbinder = good. Alongside Megan Fox and Will Arnett? Odd!

This will be a massive bomb. Apparently it's still not finished, the studio isn't happy with it and there's been reshoots with a different director. Also without a trailer there's really zero buzz out there for it - I forsee badness

that's a real shame, because the comic is excellent.

I wouldn't be too worried, even if it is a turkey. I'd liken this Jonah Hex film to what Marvel Studios are doing right now i.e. prepping lesser known superheroes such as Ant Man and Dr. Strange. The budget would be small but with a potential to make a nice tidy profit. Either way it would be no big deal if the films bombed because the risk was small.

Indeed, WB and DC should be more worried if their plans for the likes of the Green Lantern and Superman bomb.

In fairness Josh Brolin, John Malkovich, Michael Shannon and Michael Fassbender are all decent actors so I am hoping they can pull it off. Considering its out in June a trailer would be nice.

    Mini-guns on a horse....

Wild Wild West '10 and biggest flop of the summer - I'm calling it!

Still want to see it though :)

Looks decent, I think Brolin will make a great bad ass.

You think that's bad? Don't watch the A-Team trailer. :p

    :D True so true.

Yeah like you, I also think that Brolin will suit the role.

The trailer does look like the film is straying from some of the comic's roots, but I still think it could be an enjoyable enough waste of a few hours.

I dont know much about the comic at all I would love to read some of the graphic novels.

I dont know much about Jonah Hex all I know about it is from the trailer i see yesterday and first impressions well its seems loads of action.

I doubt its goin to be good I seen the chain guns on the horse scene and I was like there is No Way That was in the comics.

5 million at the US box office it bombed

Not too disappointing I suppose as I expected this, I'll say again that WB/DC shouldn't be too disheartened. As long as their 'big' projects like Flash, Green Lantern and Superman produce the goods then WB's acquisition of DC will have been a success.

It's strange that WB put together Jonah Hex before giving us Green Lantern and co. I suppose they thought that stars like Brolin and Fox would have guaranteed a certain amount of success and weren't too worried about the GA's lack of knowledge on Jonah Hex. I think that's the only thing to be disappointed about, that for such a well known cast it performed rather poorly.

One of the reasons for its disappointing performance has to be the run time, the film is only about 73 minutes excluding the credits. A lot of people don't like paying 10 or 12 dollars to see a film that short, it's just not value for money when you consider that most summer films are nearly twice that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,295 ✭✭✭✭Duggy747

Most reviews I've seen for this have stated this was butchered in the editing room. (Studio meddling to fix what appeared to an already broken film) Hence, why apparently it's so short.

Many reviews seem to go on about how the dialogue and scenes are so bizzare that it's clear something was done to salvage the movie.

Most actors and Megan Fox got crucified by critics but Brolin, fortunately, got away with it so this won't make a dent on his pretty good career.

Wasn't too gone on this film when I first saw the trailer, but then learned that Mastodon are doing the soundtrack, so naturally enough I now have to go see it :D

Her head is wider than her waist in that poster though... it's a tad freakish.

You're mistaking part of Hex's coat for the background. You can only see her left and middle.

I actually think Megan Fox is getting uglier. She's going down the Tara Reid route. The more slutty she gets, the worse she looks.

    Film looks shot though.

^ she had trampy roles in Two & A half Men + Transformers....she played trailer trash in both.....so...................

Just for us people who will be more interested in the soundtrack than the the actual movie:

She's had a tonne of plastic surgery since Transformers2. She's starting to look weird. Hope she doesn't end up like that thing from the Hills Heidi Montag...

I mean seriously, why do they even bother? "Oh I was just voted the sexiest woman on the planet, better get loads of plastic surgery and change everything about me that was so attractive in the first place."

Finally watched Jonah Hex and all I can say is WOW. It's an absolute mess, I mean as bad as Wild Wild West is at least there was a sense of coherence to it. It's obvious that the scritpt from Neveldine, Taylo was drastically rewritten, it's estimated that about 90% of their script was removed with only the Gatling gun scene being kept albeit minus the hard R themed violence they had in mind.

Brolin sounds the part but the face make up is dreadful, it looks like silly putty. And Megan Fox really isn't bad in the film, just that most shots of her appear to have been touched up beyond all recognition. During their first encounter, just before the soldiers arrive I actually thought that Hex was imagining that it was his dead wife in the room as Fox looked absolutely nothing like herself.

Michael Shannon's 4 seconds of screen time were ridiculous, it's clear they were intending him to be a bigger part int he sequel but that's never going to happen. Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Will Arnett, Wes Bently, Lance Reddick and Aidan Quinn didn't fare much better. I'm quite curious to discover just how much of what they filmed was cut, I seriously doubt that Reddick signed up so that he could have one line of dialogue.

It's truly a mess of a film, trying to find anything good to say about it beyond, there were some nice explosions is rather hard as really there was absolutely nothing good about the sorry excuse for a film. Actually there was, the score from Mastodon was pretty bad ass and by far the films sole redeeming factor.

I would love to see them go back and remake the film, this time casting an actor who respects the source material. Hell Thomas Jane would be perfect, he even went so far as to pay for a photo shoot where he played the part of Hex in the hopes of starring in the film. Maybe if the Ghost Rider sequel is a success, Neveldine, Taylor may be allowed to make the Jonah Hex film they wanted to before Brolin came on board and took complete creative control.

Didn't realise Brolin took control of the film. I've avoided watching this because of what I've heard about it. It's a shame, Hex is a great character, there was a brilliant episode of Batman the Animated Series all about Hex.

Neveldine, Taylor left over his demands and Brolin is on record as saying that in post they were still playing around with he films tone as during shooting himself and the director could not agree on one.

I'm surprised at Brolin, I guess his rise over recent years has gone to his head a bit. Actors should stick to acting imo!

I still don't understand why they didn't just make it as a gritty, "realistic" western and leave all the supernatural nonsense in the bin where it belongs. the success of True Grit shows that there's some sort of market out there for it.

There is an animated Jonah Hex DC Showcase out there, easy enough to find, that is 1 million times better than the film even though it is only 11 mins long. If they had of stuck to that formula I think they would have been on to a winner.

Iv'e seen that. It's very good and really what the film should have been like.
