2 Weeks in Sicily

I have 2 weeks in Sicily with my wife from mid-september. Just looking for some ideas on where to stay?

We fly in to Palermo coming from the mainland and depart from Catania. So I was thinking 3 nights Palermo, then rent a car and take 7 nights in a villa somewhere (not necessarily by a beach) and then remainder in Catania. Any other suggestions? Villa/hotel recommendations?

    Thanks.

Would highly recommend Taormina, Cefalu and - especially - the Aeolian islands. Sicily is lovely for a quiet holiday with great food. However, we did find that, with the exception of Taormina, bars closed quite early - about 10.30-ish - so by the time we left our restaurant, there was nowhere to go for a nightcap. That was the only downside of the holiday really, the rest of it was terrific.

Thanks for that. Quiet holiday with great food is just what we're after. Can I ask did you stay on one of the islands or was it just a day trip? Do you know if Palermo and/or Catania are worth a few nights?
