After a really good showing in the preseason tests, looks like Sauber have faded right down to the class of the newcomers. A sponsorless and sometimes unreliable car, customer Ferrari engines that seem dodgy at best, and in my opinion, at least one questionable driver choice (De la Rosa).

Anyone else got thoughts on why it seems to be going a bit pear shaped for ol Pete?

De La Rosa is a legend.

    That is all.

Teams performing well in pre-season testing is nothing new.

They run the car light to look fast in the hope of attracting sponsors and then show their true colours when the season starts. It's called winning the Winter World Championship but it hasn't worked for Sauber

Unlike Brawn and Honda, BMW continued to develop their 2009 car and didn't switch their focus to the next years car. So Sauber inherited a sh*t box from BMW and they obviously can't even afford to paint it in their own colours. And as for BMW Sauber Ferrari! The sooner the name is changed the better.

I really hope Sauber bounce back because I always liked them and always thought their cars looked cool.

Tradtional privateer teams are what keeps F1 alive when the manufacturers have enough and pull out.

After four races its pretty clear that they were running low fuel in the winter to try and get some sponsorship

@ Cookie Monster: De La rosa hasnt raced a full season since 2002, legend or not, he's past it.

Yeah i was wondering alright why the car wasnt the usual Sauber Blue and Green, Petronas f*cking off to Mercedes hardly helps them i dont think.

Though during the preseason tests Renault had hardly any sponsors, and they didnt exactly tear it up and they signed TW Steel and HP Invent.

I think the team needs a bit more time. They seem to have suffered accidents and failures that hopefully will get less frequent. Kobayashi has only completed 19 race laps so still not much racing to judge him on.

The reliability issues are probably down to the fact that the chassis was designed for the BMW power unit but now has the Ferrari in it, its the same thing that happened to Williams in 2006 when they ran the Cosworth instead of the BMW.
