In the spirit of growing up gay being on yesterday, how many of you are under 18? I'm 16, lesbian, in transition year and out to my family and one or two friends. Introduce yourself; Hows your school towards LGBT people, your friends, general opinion on life as an LGBT teen? Do you know any other gay people in real life? I know we have a crazy number of 26 year olds, but I was curious as to people more my age.

How old are you? 2 votes

Boards.ie is 13+ and honestly I don't think this thread is a good idea.

Sorry, didn't realize the age limit, is it ok if we take out the poll? I didn't mean it to be like intrusive or suspicious or anything, just to see if there was anyone like me on the board

Have you had a look at the forum which is primaryily for teens?
    The clearasil and hormones forum?

Have you read any of the stay safe on line guides?
There is on in the forum

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055436777
Now I know most of this is common sense, and anyone who has spent any time on line should know all this, but I think it's important that we have this thread for younger or less experienced internet users. (Sorry if I sound completely patronising here!)

    Guidelines for staying safe online:

    * If anyone PMs you requesting personal information or with anything that makes you feel uncomfortable, do not hesitate in PMing one of the mods. Any actions that seems threatening or predatory in any way will be dealt with very seriously.
    * Don't post any personal information you wouldn't want your parents/teachers/future employers reading.
    * Don't post any contact information in public, you never know who'll see it.
    * Be very wary about who you arrange to meet online, if you do decide to meet, make sure it's during daylight hours in a public place (e.g a cafe)
    * Let someone know where you are going & who with. Bring someone with you or only agree to meet up as part of a group for added peace of mind.
    * Choose a safe public place, such as a park or cafe, and meet during daylight hours. A good tip is to go somewhere you are familiar with.
    * Provide your own travel arrangements & take your mobile with you.
    * Let the person you're meeting know how to recognise you if you haven't exchanged photos.
    * If you feel uncomfortable at any stage, excuse yourself to call a friend for advice or ask for the assistance of someone else on the scene. Never feel embarrassed, your safety is your top priority.
    * Remember do not get overly concerned, basic common sense and intuition are your best guide.
    * Don't post any pictures of yourself you wouldn't let your mother see.

There are young posters using the site and this forum it's just that most don't advertise it in such a manner due to privacy reasons or wanting to stay safe on line and not paint a possible target on themselves or to have people think less of them cos they are not that old.

Sorry, didn't really dawn on me the issues with a youth lgbt thread. Delete it if you think it will only cause trouble. Didn't mean to break any rules, CAH might have made more sense.
