I have about 3500 to spend on a family car. I would like to stick to a 1.4L engine. Need a big boot for buggies etc.. I am looking at a 04 Daewoo lacetti which im not completely sold on, and the boot is not that big. And also a 03 Renault scenic which I like but have heard conflicting reports. Any advice on these or other cars would be greatly appreciated...

3500 to spend ,04 Daewoo lacetti? There's a dreamers thread here on motors . I suggest that the seller takes a look at it.

The Daewoo is 3000 with just 50,000 miles and new NCT

I drove another model Daewoo, a lanos for 19 months. Missus drives a focus, relaible car and a lovely thing to drive. I now drive a mondeo. If I had to pick a smaller capacity car, the focus would be it.

€4k or less for a clean '04 focus with NCT is probably about right.

How about something like this, practical, economical and reliable, if not the most stylish, but if you're considering a Lacetti, that's hardly a concern.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the Octavia yet given that the OP is looking for something with a large boot.

I'm sure OP you could get this close to your budget:
