Just got a mail from Toontrack about Crossgrading to SD for just under 80 lids (plus postage, I imagine). I know most of you are gonna tell me what a sweet deal this is, but what was sampled for SD2? Just one kit? Is there any integration between SD2 and EZ Drummer and it's expansions?

    SD2 has:

    Allaire Kit
    Custom and Vintage
New York Sessions (powerstation drum room I think or hit factory? one of um and the rooms are killer)

and one more which I cant remember till I use the drop down in SD2  I have the new york addon and standard am awaiting the bank to allow the custom and vintage :D

TBH there was a few things I loved in EZ especially the nashville kit but since moving to superior and a few upgrades I have let EZ go from my mind.

Im the kinda person that when I like something even if old I dont want to let it go if its working and it was the same for EZ but I have and you might too :D

The room mics and variants in SD are where its at TBH I find that this is where the whole program comes into its own.

    See what the others say?!?

    +1
I had EZ and upgraded for 99 dollars and I am very pleased with the new kit (Allaire that is integrated into the basic SD2 package). I no longer use EZD within SD2 but occasionally use the Nashville kit, and Latin EZX's within the SD2 shell.
SD2.0 has so much more tweakability if that is your thing. It is a bit bewildering if you don't know much about drum miking and mixing. I recently bought the preset add-on packs to compensate for my inability to work it out and have been pleased with the 7 new sounding kits I now have. More presets from Steven SLate are imminent too.
It is a bit of a deal still - if you are smart like me, you can buy the upgrade, apply to Toontrack to sell your old EZdrummer, sell the EZD and then end up getting SD2 for the sale price minus the cash you sell on EZD for. It is all legitimate, just be transparent when selling on EZD since there are a couple of enforced restrictions around tech support etc with the EZD when you re-sell it to a new user to authorise.

    SD is amazing!!!

Very versitile and pro-sounding (if you tweak it).

I'm still rocking the AR kits though... Too much of a good thing is never a real problem, right?

The additional mics are a blessing too, ie: you can add a little green bullet mic on the kick etc.. theres an SM57 mic for more nastyness and you can assign what goes where ie: whole kit to the main room but leave the snare out of it and send that somewhere else, it really is the MUST HAVE TOOL !

search you tube for a mixer view it will make sense then :D
